The ISIS Neutron and Muon Source is a world-leading centre for research at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Oxford.

On site are a diverse range of neutron and muon instruments to give unique insights into the properties of materials on the atomic scale. Naturally, many of these instruments rely on cryogens and depend on a dedicated Cryogenics team to maintain support. In recent months the in-house liquid Helium and Helium gas recovery network has undergone a significant update which included the supply of a new Statebourne HS2000 Helium Dewar for the main liquid Helium distribution hub. Also needed were a number of smaller HS120 Helium Dewars used for the distribution of Helium throughout the site. Following close consultation with the cryogenics facility, Statebourne tailored the HS120 Dewar, incorporating several unique features to meet the very specific ergonomic requirements of the ISIS facility.

Pictured standing in front of a Linde Helium Liquefier are the HS2000 and a number of the HS120 Helium Dewars.
